Seven Day Nature Photo Challenge- Day 1

SDNPC.

Oh gosh! I’ve been nominated by Cee’s Photography blog to do the Seven Day Nature Photo Challenge. Cee has a lot of fun challenges on her blog as well as some really great tips & tricks on photography. I haven’t read all of the tips yet, but I hope to because there’s always more to learn.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t ever done anything like this before so if I mess it up, please be lenient in your criticism. 🙂 What I’m suppose to do is post a nature photo each day for 7 days. I’m assuming the term “nature” includes plants, animals & landscapes. Plus I’m suppose to nominate a fellow blogger each day to participate in the challenge. If I miss a day, I’ll pick up where I left off.

Today I’m nominating Chronicles of an Anglo Swiss. She’s already posted some gorgeous nature photos and has a very entertaining blog that I’ve enjoyed a lot.

Without further ado, here’s my photo.

This is the Great Salt Plains State Park in Oklahoma. It is in the north central part of Oklahoma. I never knew it was there until a few years ago. It looks like another world. There’s a lake that is salty and has an island in the middle. The whole park is a national wildlife refuge, but you can camp and do a lot of other activities there.

What’s really fun is that you can take this road out onto the salt plains and dig for crystals that are shaped like an hourglass or a bowtie and are partly brown in color. This is the only place in the world that these crystals are found. And it’s free to dig there!

If you’re passing through or within driving distance, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a really fun day trip.

  1. I lived in Colorado for 25 years and didn’t know that Oklahoma had Salt Flats. Guess you learn something every day. I’m thrilled you are participating. I’m glad you like my tips and tricks. 😀

    1. It was a shock to me and I’ve lived in OK all of my life! We even have a waterfall! Oklahoma- the surprising state. LOL!
Your tips & tricks are very informative. I haven’t gotten my camera out for some time. I’ll have to try to remember them and apply when I do get it out.

      1. We just moved a few months ago and I realized I didn’t remember seeing the camera bag or where it was. It was a full-blown panic, like I’d lost my child, while I was looking for it. Finally found it in a “safe place”. So safe I couldn’t find it! I hate it when I do that… 🙂

  2. Poor George and I went out to Great Salt Plains just a week ago! Wow, how strange to see a picture of where we just were, happily digging (well I was anyway)…….George was fascinated by the dune buggies next door. I came home with some really cool crystals too. Grats on the challenge!
