WPC- Prolific

WPC- Prolific

I think it’s fair to say I’m prolific with photos. It sure feels like a mountain of ’em when I’m trying to organize and back them up. It’s no lie that this blog is heavy on the photographic side. They range from pleasing to downright “it’s horrible but it’s the only one I have”.

When we went to Alaska last year I think I came back with something like 1200 photos. I used both my DSLR and my iPhone. Digital cameras changed everything! You don’t have to worry about getting photos developed or running out of film. You don’t have to worry about getting a crummy photo back and having lost the shot. I have to say it is THE BOMB! The downside is obviously having to process all of them one by one. Which I do. Usually it’s just a crop and resize, but you still have to give each one attention, even if you chuck it. Plus there’s the tagging and organizing. Time consuming to say the least.

But, it’s still fun to snag the shot and to see the photos again and share them. It makes me happy to see a beautiful flower, or a gorgeous sunset. A thing of beauty is a joy to behold. So if I can share that, then it’s a good thing.

  1. Yes, I take a huge amount of photos too, but I do think the process of deleting them is educational. Asking myself why this one is not good and another one similar does look good to me. It is hard to find the time to do this and the photos pile up.

    1. Thanks for commenting! That’s a very good point Carol. I definitely learn from the culls. I was actually caught up on all of my photos, but now I’m a couple months behind again. Ugh. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this though. Ha!

      1. I am way, way behind. It is silly for me to have 20,000 photos on computer. I cannot find what I want. I need to put them in categories. I started a flower category, but I just cannot make myself get back to it. Time is not the issue; I am retired!!!

      2. Can you feel me patting your shoulder? I know your pain. I was in that spot too a few years ago. It’s taken me that long to get my photos organized the way I want them. First, I got them together first by year, then month, then copied certain ones like flowers into their own category folder. Plus tagged them all so I could find them. You can do it too!
